ROSENDALE, N.Y. — A driver and passenger suffered injuries that appeared to not be life-threatening when their car collided with an Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency flatbed truck Thursday afternoon on state Route 32, Bloomington Fire Chief Joe Hafner said.

Firefighters who responded to the crash, about 2 p.m. at the intersection of Route 32 and the south end of Kallop Road, initially asked the Rosendale Fire Department to establish a helicopter landing zone near the scene, but after the driver and passenger were evaluated, it was determined that flying them to a hospital was unnecessary, Hafner said.

Hafner did not identify the two injured people, other than to say they were women. He said both were trapped in the four-door Nissan for about 20 minutes after the crash.

The fire chief said one of the women was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie and the other to a different hospital.

The driver of the flatbed, who also was not identified, was not injured, and there was “not much damage” to the truck, Hafner said.
