Jacob Anderson has already had a hand in one of the most beloved fantasy properties in the world, having played the stoic Unsullied warrior Grey Worm in Game of Thrones. Now he’s moving onto the vast world of science fiction and joining Doctor Who as a time traveler named Vinder.

Vinder is still shrouded in mystery. We know that he’s a time traveler, but not much more. Anderson has super high hopes for Vinder, telling the BBC that he wants him to be as memorable as classic characters “like River Song, and Osgood.”

"And all these people you really remember and I hope Vinder can be a part of that, I really hope people like him…As a fan of the show and as a fan of those characters that come in and recur and are part of the story beyond their singular story, there are some really iconic characters."

He certainly looks the part:

Who is Vinder on Doctor Who?

As mysterious as Vinder is, Anderson could share some small details about the character. “I don’t know if I can go into what his relationship is with the Doctor and the fam. But he is a pilot, a fighter pilot, and a very good fighter pilot,” Anderson told Radio Times. “At the beginning of the story, he is stranded somewhere, and that’s kind of where his past starts to cross with the Doctor.”

“But I’m pretty sure I can’t say anything else,” Anderson concluded… before saying something else. “He’s a man of honour, and he has a really clear code. And that’s a part of his journey over the series.”

Watch the trailer for the thirteenth season of Doctor Who — called Doctor Who: Flux — below. It only has six episodes, but they’re all part of one big story.

Season 13 will mark Jodie Whittaker’s final outing as the Doctor before someone new takes the reins. “It’s bigger and better than ever,” she teased. “It’s my final (full) series, there’ll be questions asked, there’ll be answers, there’ll be exclamation marks, and huge exclamation marks and I think that in itself will pique your interest and pique your curiosity.”

Naturally, Doctor Who: Flux begins on Halloween! You don’t want to miss this.
