Alabama Rep. Mike Jones discusses the upcoming special session of the legislature

ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WDHN) — On Thursday, the Alabama State Legislature will begin its special session on reapportionment. It’s a requirement every 10 years following the release of the most recent U.S. Census numbers.

Alabama Representative Mike Jones of Andalusia’s district covers Covington and the western portion of Coffee County.

As chairman of the rules committee, Jones is expected to have a strong voice in formulating the U.S. Congressional seat boundaries, as well as statehouse and senate seats, and school board district lines.

However, Representative Jones says he doesn’t expect to see much difference in our area from where the lines are now.

Jones is not sure how long this special session of the legislature will last.
