The Blackhawks raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on Wednesday night and managed a point, but couldn't hold on as the Toronto Maple Leafs completed the comeback en route to a 3-2 overtime win.
Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat found twine for the home team and Kevin Lankinen made a season-high 37 saves in his second overtime defeat of the year.

The Blackhawks got on the board first for the first time on the year early in the first as Kirby Dach netted his third of the season. From a breakout in the defensive zone, Seth Jones and Philipp Kurashev quickly relayed the puck to Dach at the Leafs' blue line, where the centerman deked one way, pulled the puck to his forehand and put a wrister over the shoulder of Jack Campbell for a 1-0 lead.

Seth Jones played setup man again a short time later, springing Alex DeBrincat on a break from behind a changing Toronto defense in transition. The winger put a wrister into the opposite top corner past Jack Campbell for his third of the season and a 2-0 score.

The visitors got on the board on a drive through the slot on a rush of their own in the second period. Late-trailing John Tavares took a feed from Morgan Rielly and then put a backhander up high on Kevin Lankinen to make it a 2-1 game.

Former Blackhawk David Kampf made it a tie game late in the third The centerman put a backhander towards goal from the high slot that ramped off the skate of Erik Gustafsson and over the shoulder of Kavin Lankinen into the net for a 2-2 game.
