If you speak fluent Klingon, can locate Mordor on a map, or know what color Darth Vader's lightsaber is, there's an event next month in Greensboro that might be of great interest to you.After its inaugural showing back in May, Triad Comic Con is returning on Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport.It's a celebration of comic books, science fiction, superheroes, and fantasy and will feature a cosplay contest, a "Magic the Gathering" tournament, vendors, artists and authors, and even pro wrestling.Co-organizers and life-long friends Church Ramsey and Fred Wright say there are many different reasons why people are drawn to this world, even as adults. For Ramsey, an Army veteran and former Blackhawk pilot, it helped him battle with PTSD."People won't believe how much comic books mirror what's going on in the world today," he says. "But the good thing about a comic book is- the good guys always win! It doesn't always happen that way in reality and so, that's what started it for me."Wright, who owns Eastgate Comics in High Point, says the "hero element" is what keeps him hooked."Everybody is a sucker for a good story but the big thing is, especially if you have kids and they look up to you and you try to be the best role model you can be for them, but at the same time, the comics kind of give you the ability to kind of get lost in that and find yourself cheering for the hero almost like inspiring you for a better tomorrow," he says.Triad Comic Con runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 14.
