TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Violet Avenue (Route 9G) between East/West Dorsey Lane and Cottage Road will be closed to all traffic at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, while the State Police conduct an investigation. The closure is expected to last approximately two hours.
Northbound traffic on Violet Avenue/State Route 9G will be advised to take Fulton Street west towards State Route 9 north. Southbound traffic will be diverted to West Dorsey Lane to take State Route 9 south. Additional local detours will also be in place for communities between Dorsey Lane and Cottage Road, according to officials.
In September, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in that area. Mid-Hudson News was told that Thursday’s investigation is related to that accident.
