Iowa star basketball player Caitlin Clark is now the first collegiate athlete to sign a sponsorship deal with Hy-Vee.
Clark and the grocery store chain announced the new NIL (Name, image, & likeness) deal Wednesday at the Crosspark Road Hy-Vee in Coralville.
The West Des Moines native this week became the first Iowa women's basketball player to be named as an AP All-American after a phenomenal freshman season.
In 2020-2021, Clark lead the country in scoring and total assists, was named a first team All American in multiple publications, and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
“My family and I decided early on that we were going to be selective about partnerships, we wanted something special,” Clark said. “Hy-Vee was an ideal match because we share so many values. I admire Hy-Vee’s leadership in our communities and how they are committed to giving back, especially in the areas of education and health and wellness.”
The NCAA changed its policy earlier this year to allow college athletes to make money off their name, image and likeness.
