On Monday just after 3:30 p.m., a man and a woman entered a Family Dollar at 1227 Webster Ave., where they tried to grab various items and leave without paying, police said.

According to cops, a 29-year-old store clerk tried to stop the thieves, but the male suspect took out a box cutter and used it to slash the clerk across his body.

The clerk was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition with multiple lacerations, authorities said.
