Chelsea man accused of fatally shooting Craig McDonald Jr. inside parked car in Everett

The Middlesex District Attorney’s office announced that 19-year-old Michael Stanton Jr. of Chelsea, was arraigned Wednesday at the Malden District Court in connection to the fatal shooting of Craig McDonald Jr., 20 of Randolph.

Authorities said McDonald was fatally shot in Everett on Friday.

Police learned about gunshots being fired in the area of Second and Revere streets at about 8 p.m. Friday but couldn’t immediately find anyone involved or a victim when they arrived on scene.

Officers then were called to an area hospital where a gunshot victim arrived. The victim, identified as McDonald, was later pronounced dead.

McDonald was allegedly seated in a parked car with two friends when a man reportedly approached the driver’s side window and fired a gun at McDonald, striking him, the Middlesex DA’s office said.

After police conducted witness interviews, reviewed surveillance video and looked at phone records, police were able to identify Stanton as the shooter, according to officials.

Stanton was held without bail after his arraignment in court.
