Doctor Who's Mandip Gill has predicted that fans will be reduced to tears at the end of the sci-fi outing's upcoming series 13, as lead Jodie Whittaker prepares to bow out next year.
Back in September, it was confirmed that both Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall will be exiting the long-running franchise following six-parter Flux, which kicks off on October 31, and three feature-length specials in 2022.

As it stands, it's unclear whether Gill, who has played The Doctor's companion Yaz since 2018, and the soon-to-be-introduced John Bishop (as Dan Lewis), will continue on past her tenure, but Gill was extremely emotional when the current team filmed the new chapter's final episode recently.
"I cried and I don't really cry," she told Metro.co.uk. "People behind the camera cried, so I think hopefully – I don't want [viewers] to cry, but they should cry!"
Already reflecting on what Yaz would be like if she returns to South Yorkshire once her timey-wimey adventures come to an end, Gill reckoned that "she'll be the best police officer ever because she's come up against so many frightening aliens, monsters [and] people that she shouldn't really be scared of anything in Sheffield! But also I think she's really found herself.

"There are questions in this series that she was toying with," she teased, noting how much Yaz has developed as a person since hopping onto that TARDIS.
"She didn't really know how to put into words, she didn't know what she was feeling and this journey for her has brought to the surface so many emotions that she may never have dealt with had she stayed in Sheffield doing what she was doing."
Doctor Who: Flux (aka series 13) will premiere on October 31 on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max.
