Formula 1 and Red Bull star, Max Verstappen won the United States Grand Prix over Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, while dealing with an illness throughout the race.

The team revealed that Verstappen was going through an upset stomach in the weekend yet, marched to victory.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko stressed Verstappen's capability and desire to perform despite encountering health complications.

“It is unbelievable what mental capacity he still has free. He drives a car at the limit, is in poor health, but also thinks about the strategy,” said Marko, speaking to Auto-motor-und-sport.de.”

“Max has brought himself back into shape with breathing exercises and drinking.”

Prior to the race, Verstappen qualified for a pole position but lost his lead early in the race. Hamilton successfully overtook Verstappen in turn 1. However, what gave Verstappen the victory was a successful team strategy, outmaneuvering Mercedes' tactics in an all-out chess match. The Dutchman pitted earlier than Hamilton on both rounds.

Despite the advantage, Hamilton failed to overtake Verstappen at the end of the race as Red Bull's star stubbornly held on with old tires.

As it stands, Max Verstappen holds a 12-point with just five races to go. Still, a seven-time Formula 1 champion like Hamilton is capable enough of bagging the crown.
