Jibes continue between Lincoln Project, Donald Trump

Lincoln Trump
'Youngkin is begging the former President to stay away.'

The Lincoln Project continues to troll a so-called “audience of one,” with an ad buy in Palm Beach for Donald Trump‘s eyes only that seems to have set a chain of events into motion.

The premise of the ad was simple. During the homestretch of a close gubernatorial race in Virginia, surging Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin has banned Trump from stumping for him because the former President could repel independent voters.

But the substance of the spot is in question.

Trump seemed to suggest that he would be in Virginia, with a statement Wednesday from his Save America PAC: “Chanting, “We love Trump” in Arlington, Virginia. Thank you, Arlington, see you soon!”

That led the Lincoln Project to fire back: “Donald Trump is too big of a coward to come to Virginia and campaign with Glenn Youngkin.”

Trump plans a virtual rally Monday.

Upon the release of the ad, the group offered a statement contending that Youngkin had pushed Trump away.

“During the Primary, and in certain parts of Virginia, Glenn Youngkin was as big a fan of Donald Trump as anyone, but now that it’s time to close the deal with Virginians, Youngkin is begging the former President to stay away,” said Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson. “This dynamic is representative of today’s Republican Party: Court Trump and his base to win the Primary and then run away from the MAGA world as fast as possible. Our message to Trump with this ad is simple: You’re being played.”

The 30-second ad, called “Ungrateful,” features narration asserting that Youngkin has “banned” Trump from Virginia, urging the “loser” former President to stay away.

Youngkin, according to the sympathetic female voice reading the script, is “just another RINO stabbing you in the back.”

Only Fox News viewers will be able to see this spot. It is the second ad the Lincoln Project, a group of former Republican political consultants who broke with the party as Trumpism came to define it, has pushed in the Virginia gubernatorial race in recent days.

The other new ad endorses former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the former Democratic political operative who previously served one term as Governor.

The new Lincoln Project commercials in Virginia are part of a barrage of homestretch spending totaling more than $5 million between the two campaigns. However, a stunt the Lincoln Project orchestrated that sent McAuliffe ops to a Youngkin event, where the staffers posed as white supremacist backers of the Republican nominee, is much more memorable than the creative.

Trump issued a statement Monday, blasting assertions that he was not backing Youngkin.

“The Fake News media, together with some of the perverts doing ads ad nauseam on primarily Fox (Fox shouldn’t take those ads!), are trying to create an impression that Glenn Youngkin and I are at odds and don’t like each other,” Trump said.

Like Texas and Arizona……Virginia used to be a ruby red state. Rising educational standards and an astute electorate has changed all that. Demographics will eventually change Texas ….. and Virginia will forever be influenced by its northern suburbs and Richmond.

Didn’t quite work out for you, PeterH. That tiki torch pulled by the Lincoln Project losers you regard so highly proved a dud. Youngkin won. A black female Republican was elected LT Gov for the Commonwealth, and a son of Cuban immigrants was elected AG. Your idea of scouring the Republican party didn’t pan out yesterday. You’re not a Republican or a conservative anyway. You’re another lib.

        * tiki torch STUNT

a tawdry piece of political theater, fearmongering and slander which is, after all, the modus operandi of the Lincoln Project and its degenerate agents, the people you admire so much

In a time of the Jan 6 attack, widespread GOP attempts at voter suppression, laws to overturn elections within states, abortion rights being lost, 750,000+ dead from Covid, wild racism, undeniable and increasing catastrophes of Global Warming, and a 1000 other issues …

Like it or not, these are political gifts to attack Republicans, slam them, call out right from wrong, take a stand, and be a leader who is strong and confrontational, acting like a leader with values, emotions, and urgent demands for change.

Yet, incredibly, with all these events as a frame, this was “a dead heat” election, similar to close races in 2020; and near all of them turned into strong GOP wins, beating Democrats across the nation in state, local, and federal elections.

Can anyone imagine if Democrats had attacked Congress with intent to kill and Hillary had 750,000 deaths, that these would not be strong points for a Republican attack and sweeping victories? They would harp, attack, and carry-on to make these “what the elections are about!” Then why isn’t this the situation for Democrats? I’ll answer that: Democrats have a sick, self-defeating internal culture that prioritizes and praises meek, timid, weak words, people, and approaches.

They are simply incapable of being leaders, acting like leaders, speaking like leaders, doing and saying things politically smart. They don’t act as protectors against these problems. They won’t attack and won’t speak powerfully and emotionally. Instead, they want to “be nice.” They don’t lead people, they take a poll. They speak in wimpy, sarcastic speeches instead of rousing and hard hitting speeches, with (internal party) utterly crazy beliefs and slogans like “when they go low, we go high.”

This doesn’t work. This cannot work. With today’s events and news, they should have sweeping, giant election landslides across the nation. But they don’t. They want to be nice, not win.

I guarantee: whatever “lesson” Democrats take from this will be wrong.

The ‘problem’ with the so called ‘demoncrats’, is their very existence. They are without the faculty of reason, they despise the bedrock import of ‘morals’, they are the diametric opposite of posterity-oriented, they are intellectually void, in short, they are a form of brain cancer to the culture and nation at large. And ‘The People’ FINALLY see this AS the truth of the matter. And now that they ‘see’ this, no amount of force, lies, or big-tech / america hating help will change the ‘fact’ of their condition. A HOPELESS condition, and a ‘cult’ of manufactured socio-cultural illness. The gag is up. The Light shineth forth into the darkness which, thank God, shall now retreat. And retreat it will. Watch, wait, and see. The phony cancerous ‘demoncrats’ are DEAD. As a party they are DEAD men walking. The ‘stink’ of their exit as they crawl back into their think tanks is the only thing we shall need to ‘endure’ for much longer.

Here in Florida The Lincoln Project trolls Trump saying Younkin wants to stay away from him. There in Virginia The Lincoln Project tell voters not for Younkin because he is a Trumpist

    What horrible manipulative liars!

The only difference between The Lincoln Project and Trump is who they are looking to manipulate and deceive to get their support

False! The goal of the Lincoln Project has been consistent from the start.

That goal is to destroy Trumpism and the Republican Party so that real conservatives have a voice. Today’s conservatives have abandoned the GQP and are now INDEPENDENT VOTERS. We will remain independent and continue to support “never Trump” organizations until the Republican Party is destroyed!

        Baloney!

Their goal is to make money off people who think they are slaying Republican dragons left and right.

Tell me ONE thing they have done so that “real conservatives have a voice”

The Lincoln Project made sure enough conservatives gathered enough votes to defeat Trump and his deplorable coup wingnuts!

More accurate to say that The Lincoln Project gathered enough money by mimicking Trump’s behavior and pitching it to liberals.

I won’t argue this forever but as above the only difference between The Lincoln Project and Trump is who they are looking to manipulate and deceive to get their support.

To be clear I am NOT a Trump supporter!

McAuliffe made a mistake trying to run against Trump instead of running on his successful record as governor last time and his country club opponent. Trump showing up could be the only thing that saves the Dem and brings out Biden-suppressed voters.

Trump isn’t going to Virginia, so the ad is factually correct. However, the threat of him going has boosted Democratic turnout which is a good thing.

Yes there are other troubled polities, throughout the world, i never imagined the u.s would join the lost ones. As to N.Z, we are not connected in any way to Australia, and remain as we are known everywhere, reasonable, kind, able to tolerate others, inclusivity etc, qualities that seem to have departed the u.s

A political party that makes it litmus test for membership loyalty to one man is not a political party at all. It is a cult. No thank you. We need to purge the members of the Cult of Trump and return the Republican party to its real conservative principles.
