LESTER GRAMKOW

Funeral services for Lester Gramkow were held Monday, October 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial was in the Gramkow-Vesper Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avon, with Military Honors. Visitation was at the church on Monday. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

Lester Gramkow was born in Bon Homme County on October 7, 1929, the son of Wilhelm and Bernadena (Loer) Gramkow. He died Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall, at the age of 92.

Lester attended county school and later worked for Cliff Hubner. In 1951, he joined the Army, where he served in the Korean War and was discharged in 1953. He then returned to Avon and continued to work for Cliff and Phyllis Hubner until 1971. At this point he bought his own farm where he has continued to reside until recently.

Thankful for having shared his life are his brother, Larry of Ft. Pierre; sister Arlene Quenzer of Houston, TX; five nieces; and many cousins and friends.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Marvin, Burnell and Layton; sister Delores Gramkow; sister-in-law Betty Gramkow; and brother-in-law Wallace Quenzer.
