An Allentown woman was injured Wednesday morning in a crash in Franklin Township.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. along Route 209 just north of the entrance to the turnpike.

Police report the woman was traveling south and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, striking an earth embankment and rolling on its side.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

Firefighters of the Franklin township fire company extricated the driver from the wreckage, with their fire police shutting down the roadway.

Franklin township police are investigating the incident.
