SEVEN HILLS, Ohio -- Caniacs champing at the bit for the opportunity to get their fix of never-frozen chicken fingers, Cane’s Sauce and Texas toast can rest easy now that Raising Cane’s appears ready to move forward with the highly anticipated new Rockside Road location in Seven Hills.

“Honestly, I don’t think we’re even sure at this point regarding opening, but I’d say our target finish date would probably be sometime next fall,” said Aerin Ledbetter, the Olio Development Group development coordinator involved in the construction of the Seven Hills store.

A new Raising Cane’s normally involves the hiring of up to 100 crew members for multiple positions. Ledbetter said the new store -- a free-standing fast-food operation with a patio and drive-thru to be built on the south side of Rockside Road at the Independence border -- will be roughly 3,000 square feet.

“We’re extremely excited to be in the Seven Hills community,” Ledbetter said. “Everyone that we worked with so far at the City of Seven Hills has been great.”

Last week, Olio Development Group met with Seven Hills officials.

“The Olio Group presented their preliminary renderings to a joint session of City Council and the Planning Commission, which is a requirement of our PUD (Planned Unit Development) ordinance,” Mayor Anthony D. Biasiotta said.

“This is the very first step in the process. The next thing is a public hearing the first week of November and the passage of ordinance changes that will allow Raising Cane’s to get under way. They should be in good shape to get started in early 2022.”

That’s good news for local folks who currently travel to Brooklyn’s Raising Cane’s location.

“Raising Cane’s is very popular amongst those who enjoy chicken,” Biasiotta said. “In fact, we’re quite positive we have many Caniacs in Seven Hills and surrounding communities.

“They’re all excited for this project. ... I’m looking forward to another dining amenity in our city. The preliminary plans for call for wrap-around outdoor dining, which is right in my wheelhouse.”
