Attest, a startup that aims to improve the speed and quality of customer surveys, has raised $60 million in fresh funds.

The London-based company uses a mixture of machine learning algorithms and human intervention to filter out responses that are impossible or improbable. Attest, which was founded in 2015, counts the likes of Microsoft, Santander, Walgreens, Wise, and Klarna among its customers.

The startup claims to be able to connect customers to an audience of 110 million people across 49 countries. Clients can also target specific audiences with 17 demographic filters.

Jeremy King, the Attest chief executive, said brands have been looking for a way to understand what's changing in their target audience through the pandemic.

"Consumer behaviors were changing at breakneck speed and pandemic-driven phenomena were stumping even the most seasoned brands," he told Insider. "Doing research has been perceived to be hard, daunting, complex, time-consuming and tricky to actually use. None of that actually needs to be true."

Attest believes its tech-heavy approach is helping it beat incumbents and will use the fresh funds secured in the Series B round to scale out its offering further.

The startup will hire around 100 new employees in the next year, up considerably from its existing headcount of 140 people. The company also plans to to expand its footprint beyond the UK and US and further in Europe and North America.

The funding round was led by Silicon Valley fund NEA alongside Kismet and other undisclosed investors, taking Attest's total funding to $85 million to date.

"We are a part of a larger trend to dramatically expand the accessibility and availability to consumer research to far more people, and break down the barriers to entry," King added.
