Ghostly Characters Host Chilling Event at Schaghticoke’s Knickerbocker Mansion

As you know, our area is steeped in history. In the early 1700s, a family settled in Schaghticoke known as the Knickerbockers. There are many stories surrounding this family and this weekend, one of the most gruesome tales will be told by ghostly characters. The Knickerbocker Mansion in Schaghticoke hosts this chilling event about the Kettlyhun Massacre.

The History of Knickerbocker Mansion

The Knickerbocker family owned the property for nearly 250 years. They acquired the property in 1707. In 1770, the son of Colonel John Knickerbocker, John Knickerbocker III, built the mansion where he lived with his wife and fourteen children. Only eleven of them made it to adulthood. There were 102 grandchildren that came from the Knickerbocker family. The mansion was acquired by the Knickerbocker Historical Society where it is now a museum.

Renovations Were Done Throughout The Mansion

Back in 2012 and 2013, there were renovations done that restored fireplaces and some of the interior of the mansion.

Ghostly Characters Visit the Knickerbocker Mansion This Weekend

The annual Knick-at-Night Souper Supper will be held this Friday, October 29th, and Saturday, October 30th. There will be a candlelit guided tour of the Knickerbocker Mansion. You will be transported to 1711 where Anna Quackenbush Knickerbocker and ghostly characters will tell the story of the Kettelhuyn Massacre.
