Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA Apple Strudel Bake

Hallettsville Sacred Heart HSA will hold its apple strudel bake on Saturday, Oct. 30, with pickup at the Sacred Heart Family Center in Hallettsville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unbaked strudels will be $17 and ready-to-eat strudels will be $20. 45th annual Weimar Firemen’s Dinner

The 45th annual dinner benefitting the Weimar Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Sunday, Oct. 31 at Weimar Veterans Memorial Hall.  Drive-thru serving will start at 10:30 a.m. and serving in the hall will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All plates are $12 and will include turkey, dressing, sausage and trimmings. An auction will be held at noon. 

First Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat

First Baptist Church will host Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot at 110 North Upton Ave. The event is free and safe, and everyone is invited. For more information, call the church office at 979-743-3621.

Zion Lutheran Church Stew Supper

The 29th annual Zion Lutheran Church pre-deer season stew supper will be held Monday, Nov. 1 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran parking lot on Keuper St. The carryout-only meal will include stew, bread, crackers and dessert. The $10 tickets (presale only) are available at the church office or Sticker office.

Holiday Wine Walk in Schulenburg

A holiday wine walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m., with wine glasses and maps available at the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce, 618 North Main St. Pre-sale tickets are $20 and tickets at the door will be $25. Wine stops will be at Apothecary Pharmacy & Gift Shope, Audio-Video Plus, Bubela Real Estate, Crystal Threads, Czechr’d Dog, Engle Emporium, Jack & Mary’s, Potter Country Store and TX Creations. Wine walk participants can also enter to win a prize basket at Tillie’s Cafe and enjoy wine slushie specials.

Praha All Veterans Day Ceremonies

The 59th anniversary All Veterans Day ceremonies at the Praha Cemetery, honoring all veterans of all eras, will be held Sunday, Nov. 7. 

At 9:30 a.m., Mass will be offered for all veterans at the Praha Church. Assembly will be at 10:30 a.m. and the service will start at 11 a.m. A flyover by the Commemorative Air Force will take place at 11:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be Mike Petrash, U.S. Army colonel. There will also be a flower drop and music by D’Vine Testament. 

Lawn chairs should be brought as seating is limited. A fried chicken dinner ($12 per plate) will be prepared by the St. Rose Home & School Association. The event is sponsored by Praha Veterans Club and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 870, with participation from the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Disabled Veterans and Fourth Degree KCs.

St. Rose HSA Veterans Day Dinner

The St. Rose HSA will serve a Veterans Day dinner on Sunday, Nov. 7 starting at 10 a.m.  The plates ($12 each) will include three pieces of fried chicken, buttered potatoes, green beans, pickle and cookie. Dine-in or drive-thru will be available at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St. 

Hallettsville Sacred Heart Band Tamale Sale

The Hallettsville Sacred Heart band is holding a tamale sale, with orders due by Monday, Nov. 8. Cost is $12 per dozen (regular, jalapeno or chicken). Pickup will be in Hallettsville on Thursday, Nov. 18. To order and for pickup information, contact sacredhearttameles@gmail.com or 361-798-4251. The tamales are from Delicious Tamales of San Antonio, which has been providing them for 19 years.

Freyburg United Methodist Church Country Christmas Bazaar

Freyburg United Methodist Church will hold its Country Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Rockin’ W Ranch on Highway 77 north of Schulenburg. There will be top name-brand toys, homemade baked and canned goods, “Recollections & Recipes” book, silent auction (closes at 10 a.m.) and more. Credit cards will be accepted.
