Jabrill Peppers out for season as Giants lose another captain

The Giants’ injury-riddled season continues with another key player being lost to the injured reserve, and for the season.

The team announced Tuesday that the veteran safety has been placed on IR due to ACL and ankle injuries suffered in the third quarter of Sunday’s dominant 25-3 victory over the Panthers.

The Giants said Peppers suffered “a rupture to the ACL in his knee and a high ankle sprain.”

Peppers is the third team captain lost for the season due to injuries, joining Blake Martinez and Nick Gates.

Peppers’ third season with the Giants included playing in all six games, starting five of them, logging 30 tackles and a sack, which he recorded on Sunday before his injury. The former first-round draft pick was brought to New York in the trade for Odell Beckham Jr.
