KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — No charges have been filed as the investigation continues into a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Fountain City.

Police say that around 4 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 4800 block of North Broadway. As officers arrived, a 52-year-old man was found near the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. He was given aid and transported for treatment.

Knoxville Police say the man is in critical condition as of 10 p.m. Tuesday at UT Medical Center.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. The Violent Crimes Unit was able to identify the suspect, but no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
