AEW Ratings: ‘Dynamite’ averages over 1 million viewers for the first time in a month

For the first time in a month, the AEW ratings for “Dynamite” saw All Elite Wrestling’s flagship show score over a million average viewers for the March 23 broadcast.

Despite offering up an entertaining product with one of the very best rosters in all of professional wrestling, “AEW Dynamite” has had trouble the few months in earning over a million average viewers, and staying above that number for consecutive weeks.

In March, the series found itself scoring strong numbers with advertisers’ favorite group of viewers — the 18 to 49 demographic — however, overall numbers have remained under a million. On March 9, “Dynamite” pulled in 945,000 viewers on average. The number was down from the week prior. But, in a show of things to come, the numbers would increase the following week.

AEW ratings surpass a million viewers for first time in March

On March 16, the show gained nearly 50,000 viewers and finished sixth among original cable programming with 993,000 sets of eyeballs. For this week’s edition of the series, the ratings once again increased and on Wednesday the broadcast averaged 1.05 million viewers (via Show Buzz Daily).

The March 23 episode finished third among original cable programming, just behind a doubleheader of NBA regular-season games on ESPN. This is a very positive sign for the promotion after some disappointing weeks as they enter the spring.

In the past, ratings that surpassed a million viewers were often followed by a decline the next week. It will be very interesting to see if AEW can maintain this number for their March 30 broadcast.

This week’s episode of “Dynamite” featured an eight-man tag match that saw the Hardy’s team up with Sting and Darby Allin. A battle of former ROH rivals when Jay Lethal faced Adam Cole. As well as the debut match for the new Jericho Appreciation Society faction.

AEW Dynamite airs Wednesday at 8 PM ET on TBS.
