The New Orleans Saints have marched to a solid 4-2 record this season, but might have to soldier on without two key players due to injury.

Saints placekicker Wil Lutz and starting guard Andrus Peat, both Pro Bowlers for the team, are likely to miss the rest of the season.

Lutz had yet to take the field for New Orleans this season as he recovered from a core muscle injury. He was expected to return from injury reserve until this latest setback in his recovery. He's played his entire five-year career for the Saints, connecting on 86.6% of his field goal attempts and making the Pro Bowl game in 2019.

Lutz sent out a message to Saints fans, informing them firsthand of the news he'll have to shut it down for the rest of the season in favor of long-term recovery.

Undrafted rookie Brian Johnson, fresh off a game-winning field goal to beat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, now stands as the Saints' full-time kicker for the rest of the season.

The Saints are also dealing with ominous news on guard Andrus Peat, whose initial exams for his pec injury look to be season-ending. But with the MRI results not yet out, there's still a small sliver of hope that the three-time Pro Bowler has a better diagnosis.

The Saints have been battered with injuries this season but have found a way to pile up on the wins. Hopefully the rest of the team stays healthy as they contend for another postseason berth.
