According to NFL Insider Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts have signed both veteran safety Jahleel Addae and tight end Eli Wolf to their practice squad on Tuesday—each of whom was among the six players the team worked out on Monday:

Regarding Addae:

Originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the San Diego Chargers, the 5’10”, 195 pound veteran defensive back, Addae, has also played with the Houston Texans (2019) and later the Los Angeles Chargers (2020) [again].

The 31 year old versatile strong safety has 438 tackles (333 solo), 18 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, 5 interceptions (1 returned for a touchdown), 26 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries during 107 career games (62 starts).

He appeared in 11 games for the Chargers in 2020, recording 21 tackles (13 solo), 0.5 sacks, an interception, and two passes defensed.

Meanwhile, Wolf was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Baltimore Ravens in 2020 out of Georgia. The 6’4”, 238 pound tight end recorded 21 receptions for 272 receiving yards (13.0 ypr. avg.) and 2 touchdown receptions during his collegiate playing career with both the Tennessee Volunteers (2015-18) and Georgia Bulldogs (2019).

While cornerback BoPete Keyes was reportedly the only injury from Sunday night’s win, the Colts still remain pretty banged up in their secondary—at least at it relates to Addae’s addition, who could potentially bring extra versatility, experience, and become a key special teams contributor (*should he be eventually promoted to the team’s 53-man active roster).

The Colts announced that the team released offensive guard Zack Bailey in a corresponding taxi-man squad move.
