Tuesday BP: Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey are Silver Slugger finalists

Meanwhile, Brandon Belt isn’t angry, he’s just disappointed.

MLB: San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, baseball fans!

The Silver Slugger finalists were announced yesterday, and the San Francisco Giants have two players that made the cut.

Brandon Crawford is up against Fernando Tatis, Jr. (San Diego Padres), Trea Turner (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Willy Adames (Milwaukee Brewers). Crawford had a 6.1 bWAR season, batting .298 on the season with an .895 OPS. Crawford led the team in hits, runs, runs batted in and tied with Buster Posey for walks. This would be Crawford’s second Silver Slugger, his first coming in 2015 where his numbers weren’t as good. He’s truly had a career season, but he will be up against some tough competition.

Meanwhile Posey is up against Will Smith (Dodgers), J.T. Realmuto (Philadelphia Phillies) and Omar Narváez (Brewers). Posey had a 3.5 bWAR season, batting .304 for the year, with an .889 OPS. Posey led the team in on base percentage (.390) and sits behind Crawford for hits. This would be Posey’s fifth Silver Slugger award, and first since 2017.

The winners will be announced on MLB Network on November 11th, at 3:00 p.m. PST.
