DoGood’s Tavern, located at 2 E. Main Ave., Myerstown, opened for business on Sept. 3.

Initially, the opening date was set for Sept. 2, but due to severe weather, it was postponed one day.

The remodeled interior and new bar received enthusiastic praise on Facebook from customers.

DoGood’s Tavern is open six days a week and is closed on Mondays. Their daily hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

New flooring was part of the extensive renovations to the building.

DoGood’s Tavern is the third establishment owned by Steve Hansen, Keith Buchter, and Ken Gechter. The three of them also own Ozgood’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar in Robesonia and Kutztown.

Ozgood’s in Robesonia opened in 1997, and the Kutztown location opened in 2013. The DoGood’s property — which used to house the Buy Right Grocery Store, owned by the Fulk family — was purchased in 2016.

The entire building, including the second floor apartments, were gutted.

“Everything is brand new,” Hansen told LebTown. “The roof, wiring, plumbing, structural work, and floors. We replaced 70 to 80 windows.”

Renovations began in 2019 with the goal to open doors in the summer of 2020. But the opening was delayed due to the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Once the owners realized that opening in 2020 would not be realistic, they slowed down the renovations and also used the time to fix up the Robesonia Ozgood’s location.

The seating at the high tables are Designform Furnishings Miller barstools.

“The borough has been appreciative,” Hansen said. “They gave us a resolution, thanking us, because this is a historical building that we’ve renovated. It’s been an investment into the town and the borough was supportive.”

The walls are one of the only features that remain unchanged.

DoGood’s has also received a positive response from the community.

“The townspeople seem to really enjoy it,” Hansen said. “They’re amazed by the atmosphere, especially those who grew up in the area and remember the old Buy Right.”

Community members have been impressed with the remodels.

A family member of the Fulk family has visited DoGood’s to see the renovations. “They loved what we’ve done,” Hansen said.

The outdoor dining option provides customers with the opportunity to enjoy delicious food and the lovely fall weather.

DoGood’s Tavern accepts reservations, but not via Facebook or Instagram. Call the restaurant at 717-628-5275 to reserve your table.
