Initiative Aims To Guarantee A High-Quality Education For California Students

(Sacramento, CA) — Backers of a California state constitutional amendment want to guarantee a high-quality education for all students. If the initiative qualifies for the November 2022 ballot, the Constitutional Right to a High-Quality Public Education Act would give parents more legal standing to sue if they have evidence a school isn’t providing a high-quality education. The initiative does not define what “high-quality” means. Instead, the outcome of lawsuits would eventually shape a legal definition that could include reading and math skills, ineffective teaching, or even safety issues.
