N.J. weather: Flash flood warnings issued as heavy rains from nor’easter lash state

Multiple flash flood warnings were issued overnight and continue into the Tuesday morning rush as a powerful nor’easter continues to dump heavy rain throughout New Jersey with storm totals above 6 inches now expected.

Up to 3 inches of additional rain could fall Tuesday after 8 a.m., the weather service said in its morning update. Most of the state will see another 1 to 2 inches of rain.

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency in advance of the storm on Monday.
