Soto, Turner among NL Silver Slugger finalists originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Nationals outfielder Juan Soto was named a finalist for an NL Silver Slugger award Monday, officially putting him in the running for his second consecutive award. Former teammate Trea Turner, who was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in July, received a nomination as well.

Soto, 23, finished the regular season among the favorites for NL MVP as the major-league leader in on-base percentage at .465. Despite Washington trading away nearly a fourth of its active roster at the deadline, Soto shot up the leaderboards in the second half before finishing the season with 29 home runs, 95 RBI, 111 runs scored and an MLB-high 145 walks.
Though no longer a member of the Nationals, the 28-year-old Turner played 96 games for Washington before being traded. Including the 52 games in which donned Dodger blue, Turner collected 195 hits (most in the majors), 28 home runs, 32 stolen bases and 107 runs scored. His .328 batting average also paced MLB, earning Turner his first career batting title.
The Nationals are no strangers to Silver Slugger awards, receiving at least one in eight of the last nine seasons.
