Ravens crowd didn’t faze Joe Burrow: ‘Gets way louder in the SEC than in any of these NFL stadiums’

Joe Burrow wasn’t bothered by the Baltimore Ravens fans on Sunday.

It certainly helped he had Ja’Marr Chase to throw to, but that wasn’t the reason. Though, it didn’t hurt.

Burrow threw for a career-high 416 yards and three touchdowns, including a huge 82-yarder to Chase - his college teammate at LSU - in the third quarter, and the Bengals won their AFC North showdown against the Ravens 41-17 victory.

Chase had eight catches for 201 yards, easily the most productive performance of his impressive debut season. He broke Speedy Thomas’ franchise rookie record of 177 yards receiving, set in a 1969 game at Denver.

The Bengals snapped a five-game losing streak against the Ravens. Baltimore’s three most recent wins in the series were by a combined score of 114-19.

So, why didn’t the Baltimore road environment bother him?

He told Peter King of NBC stadiums in the SEC just get louder.

“We knew that they were gonna be jacked up for us to come in, and expecting to beat our ass,” Burrow said. “But we were ready for it. Playing in the SEC definitely, definitely helped. Gets way louder in the SEC than in any of these NFL stadiums.”

In 2019, in leading LSU to an undefeated national championship, Burrow threw for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns.

Of course, stadium capacity in the SEC dwarfs arenas in the NFL, but it is worth noting that Burrow spent some time at the Big Ten’s Ohio State before transferring to LSU.

Did you notice he didn’t mention the Big Ten?

Yeah, me too.

Once again, SEC football: It just means more.
