A Peach State Showdown is set for this Saturday in Statesboro.
Georgia Southern returns to action when it hosts in-state foe Georgia State for Homecoming at Allen E. Paulson Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
It will be the eighth meeting all-time between the Eagles and Panthers. Georgia State leads the series 4-3, including a 30-24 win in Atlanta during the 2020 season.
The Eagles enter the game with a 2-5 overall record, 1-3 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. Georgia State sports a 3-4 overall record, 2-1 in the SBC.
Georgia Southern won the first game in the series 69-31 in 2014 in Atlanta, but then the Panthers took the next three games, winning 34-7 in 2015 in Statesboro, 30-24 in 2016 in Atlanta and 21-17 in 2017 in Statesboro. The Eagles won the next two games, 35-14 in 2018 in Atlanta and 38-10 in 2019 in Statesboro before the Panthers won last year 30-24 in Atlanta.
The Eagles enter Saturday's game looking to avoid their second three-game losing streak of the 2021 season.
Georgia Southern is fresh off a 16-day break. The Eagles last played a game on Thursday, October 14 when they fell to South Alabama 41-14 in Mobile.
