PORTLAND, Ore. – A Portland man filed a lawsuit against the city last week for allegedly not enforcing the law when it comes to illegally parked RVs on city streets. The suit also named Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and city commissioners.
The court dismissed the lawsuit two days later after concluding that the, “plaintiff’s allegations to be without any basis in law of fact.”
The lawsuit cited a recent incident, reported by KATU News, where the city used tax-payer dollars to tow two RVs from one street to another, dumping them outside homes without warning anyone in the neighborhood.
The lawsuit claimed that by not enforcing laws and ordinances, the city is giving “implied consent” for unlawful action and is putting community members at risk.
An order of dismissal from the courts called the lawsuit 'frivolous' and 'without any basis in law or fact.'
Despite the case's dismissal, KATU has reached out to city leaders for their comment on the Portland resident's perceived issues that prompted the lawsuit.
