Woman Dies, Child Hospitalized after Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Washington Avenue

ESCONDIDO, CA (October 25, 2021) A mother died while her child sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash on Rose Street, Tuesday afternoon.

According to CHP, the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m., at the intersection of Rose Street and Washington Avenue.

Furthermore, a Nissan Titan was driving east on Washington Avenue when the driver reportedly ran a red light and crashed with a Ford Fusion driving north on Rose Street.

Meanwhile, a woman and her 7-year-old son were walking across Washington Avenue in a crosswalk when one of the vehicles struck them.

Paramedics then rushed the victims to Palomar Medical Center, where the woman later died, while the child suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities, at this time, have not disclosed the identities of all parties involved.

Escondido police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
