GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry has tested positive for COVID-19 and is expected to miss Thursday’s showdown at Arizona.
Because of Barry’s positive test, coach Matt LaFleur said the team is in advanced COVID-19 protocols, which means everyone must wear masks and there will be virtual meetings Monday. LaFleur said he doesn’t believe there’s great concern about players being taken out because of close contacts.
When the team returns to the building, LaFleur said the weekly preparation for Thursday’s game will be the same, just with masks and social distancing. The Packers were not planning to practice this week, but will still do walk-throughs as planned.
Barry is in his first year leading Green Bay’s defense. The Packers defense ranks seventh in the NFL in both yards (331.4) and points (20.9) per game.
