Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street held a ribbon cutting at Small Fries Kids Shoppe at 113 N. Main on the west side of the Chariton square this past Friday morning, Oct. 1. Holding the scissors and doing the ribbon cutting in front is owner Megan McCullough, who is holding her son, Xander. To the left of Megan is the store’s other owner and her mother, Michele Patton, who is holding Megan’s daughter, Scarlett.

There’s a new store open on the west side of the Chariton square to help you with your children’s clothing and accessory needs.

The store is called Small Fries Kids Shoppe and it’s located at 113 N. Main. It sells new children’s clothing, shoes and accessories and it opened on Sept. 25. The owners of the store are Michele Patton and Megan McCullough.

A ribbon cutting was held at Small Fries Kids Shoppe to welcome the new business to the community this past Friday morning, Oct. 1.

The store sells children’s clothing, shoes and accessories for newborn babies up to ages 12 to 14. It is not a consignment store and only sells new items.

Michele and her husband, Rick Patton, live in Russell, while Megan and her husband, Adam McCullough, live in Chariton.

Michele and Megan explained why they decided to open the new store in Chariton. “We previously owned a store in Loveland, Colo., where we sold new and used children’s clothing, shoes and accessories. We loved shopping for kids’ clothes,” they said.

“Before we moved here, my husband and I visited here for a funeral and we couldn’t find a jacket for our son,” Megan said. Megan and Adam have two children including son Xander, 3, and daughter, Scarlett, nine months.

“We want to fulfill a need and be a blessing in the community,” Michele said.

Small Fries Kids Shoppe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.

To reach the store, people may call 641-219-0090.
