You can go on a charming gondola ride in New Orleans, and it sounds like the perfect date night

Robert Dula

While Venice may be known for its gondola rides, it turns out Southerners don't have to go so far to enjoy a romantic ride on the water. NOLA gondola, in New Orleans, has us covered.

Since March 2004, founder Robert Dula has been stirring up a little of that Venetian charm and romance by offering picturesque gondola rides in his own neck of the woods -- New Orleans' City Park.

During the 50-minute ride, guests are able to relax with a glass of wine on an authentic Italian gondola, built in Venice, and enjoy gorgeous water views as Dula takes them for a tour around the park's grounds. If that sounds all kinds of romantic to you, you aren't alone. By 2019, Dula said he had witnessed more than 600 proposals over the years, according to verylocal.com.

A ride for two is $100, but up to six people can ride the gondola should you prefer to make it a party. Admission is only $10 for each extra person. In addition, it's BYOB, but Dula provides an ice bucket and drinking glasses.

You can book a ride through the NOLA gondola website here.
