The Batesville Pioneers picked up their third 5A East Conference win of 2021 as they defeated the Brookland Bearcats by a final score of 21-7.

The Pioneers opened the scoring in the first quarter on a one-yard run by Jay Storlie.  The Pioneers would get two touchdown runs from Gabe Witt in the second quarter.  The first score came on a 19-yard run and the second came on a 34-yard run near the end of the first half.  Esler Ordonez connected on all three of his extra points.  Rhett McDonald had an interception for the Pioneers and Grayson Berdeja recovered a fumble to end a Brookland scoring threat.

Batesville improved to 3-5 on the season, 3-2 in 5A East play, and are currently fourth in the conference standings.

The Pioneers will return home to Pioneer Stadium on Friday as they take on the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles in a crucial 5A East matchup.  A Pioneer victory over GCT will guarantee the Pioneers a spot in the 5A playoffs.  Before the game, the Pioneers will recognize their 13 seniors during Senior Night festivities.
