The Celtics already have a few bruises and injuries just three games into the season, but they’re hoping none of their issues are serious. Three players ended up on their injury report ahead of the 7 p.m. Monday showdown against the Hornets, the second game of a back-to-back.
Jaylen Brown (left patellar tendinopathy) and Al Horford (left adductor strain) are both questionable on Monday’s injury report. Romeo Langford is listed as doubtful because of left calf tightness.
The new addition to the injury report was Horford, who played in Sunday’s road win over the Rockets. He was once again effective in his minutes on both the offensive and defensive end. But with Horford coming back from a 10-day quarantine, conditioning was going to be a question mark in the short-term for the 35-year-old big man.
Brown and Langford both missed Sunday’s game with their respective injuries. Boston coach Ime Udoka said they kept Brown out because of the same knee soreness issues he had last year, which forced him to sit a few games. Udoka added that Brown’s own 10-day quarantine messed with his ramp-up timeline.
“We’ll definitely monitor it,” Udoka said of Brown’s injury. “But it was a change in plans when he was out for those 10 days. That changed his ramp up from training camp and preseason games, and so that happened.”
Udoka said Langford sitting out Sunday was mostly for precautionary reasons. But he’s set to likely miss his second-straight game with the doubtful designation. Langford’s absence could mean added minutes for Aaron Nesmith, who was part of the rotation Sunday.
