Simone Porte Jacquemus knows how to create hype. From his cult Le Chiquito bag to the Hadid-and-Jenner studded runway shows, merging the beauty of his homeland with the see-now-buy-now desirability of high fashion is something that seems to have come quite naturally to the French designer. Now, it looks like he's got his sights set on conquering the beauty world.

An article published by WWD reports that Jacquemus is partnering with Puig, the Spanish beauty titan whose portfolio includes Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier and Penhaligons, on an undisclosed beauty line. Do we get a whiff of fragrance potential?

While there has been no comment from Jacquemus or Puig to confirm or deny the reports as of yet, it sounds as if we could be expecting a first beauty drop from the brand as early as 2022.

No word has been given as to the nature of the launch. While the majority of Puig's brands focus on taking high fashion brands into the parfumerie arena, they also look after the hugely successful and much-loved Charlotte Tilbury make-up line, leaving the gate for speculation wide open.

If the way in which Jacquemus draws on the landscape of the French countryside for his collections is anything to go by, the inspiration for his beauty line would be boundless. A tiny chic lipgloss to fit into his infamous tiny bags? A fragrance to transport us to the lavender fields of the Provence? The pared back, glowing, your-skin-but-better make-up usually seen at their catwalk shows nods to the idea that a cosmetic line would seek to follow in similar footsteps. And don't even get us started on the packaging...

Jacquemus also often notes how his late mother has remained a muse for the brand and how his memories of her invoke inspiration for his collections, making it likely that her approach to beauty could influence any forthcoming beauty lines.

Following the success of other fashion house forays into the beauty world, such as the launch of Valentino's cosmetic line last year, it's not surprising that the French designer, whose designs have become a street style staple for 'it' girls and models abound, could be looking to tap into the market. Beauty lines have long been favoured due to their accessibility, allowing us to experience our favourite high fashion houses at a fraction of the price of their sartorial collections. Even so, we'll be putting away our pennies in preparation for this launch.
