CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Nineteen Cleveland bands and musicians will give back to a local teacher with a series of five shows set to take place Nov. 8-12.

The concerts, hosted at the Winchester Music Tavern, the Beachland Ballroom, B-Side and Coda, will support Amy Baker. Baker is a teacher at Broadview Heights charter school Insightful Minds Community of Learning, and she focuses on adapting courses for students with autism. According to a press release, Baker had pregnancy complications and gave birth to her son at 31 weeks, and experienced a lengthy hospital stay as a result.

“Amy has always gone over and beyond for all of her students,” said musician and event organizer Dave “Ziggy” Deitke in a press release. “We are attempting to do the same to help her and her family during these trying times.”

The concerts’ proceeds will mostly go to Baker, while 10% will go toward supplies for Hope Hearts, a crochet project that gives handmade hats, booties and hearts to newborn intensive care unit (NICU) patients and their families for comfort, according to a press release. Baker designed a heart for the project.

“Hope Hearts are small crocheted hearts (designed by Amy) in which one stays with the infant in the NICU and the other stays with the parent, so that way both parent and child will always have a piece of each other even when they can’t be together,” the press release states.

Along with donations through the concert, fundraiser organizers are also accepting knitted and crocheted baby blankets, booties and hats to donate to local NICUs.

The concerts will feature Jul Big Green, Meg and the Magnetosphere, C-Level and more. Events will take place live, and will also be live-streamed on Facebook.
