MSHP: Authorities arrest driver who fled fatal Missouri crash

TANEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal weekend crash have made an arrest.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire was eastbound on Route EE in Rockaway Beach just after 10p.m. Saturday.

The car traveled off the road, overturned and a passenger identified as Edward J. Cummins, 54, Forsyth, was ejected.

The driver later identified as 27-year-old Timothy Hood of Springfield fled the scene, according to the MSHP.  Cummins was pronounced dead at scene and was transported to KSE funeral home in Forsyth. 

Just after 6:30p.m. Sunday, authorities arrested Hood on requested charges of felony leaving the scene of a crash, abandonment of a corpse, no valid license, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, no seat belt and no insurance.
