SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A new fan favorite has arisen in the Bay Area, and it's Golden State Warriors third-year guard Jordan Poole. He's holding down the starting shooting guard spot in place of injured star Klay Thompson, and he's doing one heck of a job.

Fans are thrilled to see Poole succeed, as is Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. The Warriors coach might have revealed Poole's future with the team before Sunday night's win against the Sacramento Kings.

“He really got going last year at the end of the season, and he's had a great training camp and a good start to the year. He's a big part of our current team and a big part of our future too. He's earned it,” Kerr told ClutchPoints.

After this season, Poole will be eligible for a rookie contract extension, which would keep him with the franchise for the long haul. While fellow Warriors youngsters James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody came into the NBA with more hype, Poole is the young player actually worthy of it. If the head coach mentions your name the way Kerr did, it's a great sign.

Poole accepts every challenge thrown his way and is doing all he can to help the team win. He's averaging 17.0 points, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 steals so far on the young season. Those numbers have Poole getting recognized as an early candidate for Most Improved Player in 2021-22. It's an award that fits him perfectly because he's always trying to improve and work on his game.

Poole's hard work and work ethic can pay off big on the court and in his pockets next season. We won't know the Warriors' exact plans until that time, but it appears when it comes to the future, Steve Kerr wants him here.
