An ex-boyfriend with a violent history is behind bars after investigators say he stabbed a woman to death outside her Long Island home. NBC New York’s Pei-Sze Cheng reports.

The ex-boyfriend of a 27-year-old Long Island woman who was found dead on her own front lawn over the weekend pulled her from the car as she returned home with a friend and stabbed her multiple times, prosecutors said at a Monday arraignment.

Kason Parker was taken into custody late Sunday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of 27-year-old Meghan Kiefer, who was found outside her home in Coram by Suffolk County police responding to a 911 call around 4:45 p.m. Saturday. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Prosecutors said at Parker's arraignment Monday that he is a prior felon who has convictions for strangulation and second-degree assault in Albany, his home. He served two to four years in 2007 for those crimes and was involved in an attempted assault in Brooklyn in 2010, prosecutors said.

No bail was granted at Monday's hearing. His attorney declined comment to News 4.

Neighbors told News 4 Kiefer lived in the home with her grandmother. They didn't share any further details.
