HARWICH — Following a positive test, town officials will provide free COVID-19 testing Tuesday afternoon to all those who attended last week's special town meeting at the Community Center.

Town Administrator Joe Powers sent out a message to residents Friday that one person who was at the meeting subsequently tested positive for the virus. The town has already reached out to that person's close contacts, and Powers said that anyone who has not been contacted by the town already is not considered to be a close contact.

At least 221 people were at the meeting, according to the vote count.

"The risk of contracting the virus from that evening is extremely low due to the advanced protective measures that we had in place," Powers said in his message. The free town testing is limited to those who were at the meeting.

Testing will be done by Harwich EMS personnel from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the public safety building on Sisson Road. Anyone with questions may call Town Hall at 508-430-7513.
