Pedestrian hit, killed on U.S. 41 in Bradenton

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on U.S. 41 in Bradenton early Monday morning.

Police say a Chevy pickup truck, driven by a 40-year-old Bradenton man, was traveling eastbound on Bayshore Gardens Parkway shortly before 5 a.m. Reports show the driver exited the roadway at a slight curve, striking a pedestrian who was sleeping on the grassy shoulder area.

The pedestrian was run over by the front of the Chevy and later pronounced deceased on scene by Manatee County EMS.

There is no word on what led to the incident.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit remains on scene as they continue to investigate the incident.
