Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A man fell asleep at the wheel and hit a rock wall over the weekend in Orange County. Police say the crash happened on Saturday along Route 17 near exit 17a. The truck was tipped on its side with the driver still trapped inside. Both the driver and passenger were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.
Residents in the Scarsdale community walked side by side this weekend to raise money in support of 2-year-old Benny Cotliar to help find a cure for his type one diabetes. All of the money raised will go to a nonprofit that funds research and services for the disease. Benny’s parents hope this walk will help bring researchers one step closer to finding a cure for the disease. “I hope in his lifetime, he can be cured and he won’t need things to be delivered into his body to survive,” says Jeremy Cotliar.  If you would like to make a donation, you can do so here.
Musical performances are making a comeback at the Yonkers Public Library. Free sponsored performances have been taking place at the library for over 25 years, but due to COVID-19, they have been put on pause for the last 18 months. Sunday afternoon musicales will be starting up again in November. The opening musicale will be “An Afternoon of Hits from the 40s to the 80s” -- Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. Seating will be in the auditorium at the library and limited to 100 people -- first come first serve.
