Crash involving semi closes EB I-196 at multiple exits Monday morning in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The driver of a semi-truck has minor injuries after a crash Monday morning that closed EB I-196 in multiple areas. 

The incident happened on I-196 east of Lake Michigan Drive. According to MSP, the driver said their trailer load shifted and caused them to roll off the roadway to the right, striking the guardrail and 2 light poles. The truck was hauling fructose. 

The crash closed EB I-196 at Market Avenue, exit 73, and Lake Michigan Drive, exit 75, for several hours. It also closed the EB M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive) entrance ramp to EB I-196.

According to MSP, the driver was taken to the hospital with a minor hand injury.
