Martin Medals, Sets Two Records in Weekend Events

Bryce Martin set two school records and won one medal during weekend swim events in Springfield. Saturday, Republic was one of 27 schools competing at the Springfield Invitational.

Saturday at the Springfield Invitational, Martin won a fifth-place medal out of 26 competitors in the 100-yard individual medley. He finished ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.92. That was about three-quarters of a second faster than his previous best and a new team record.

Friday, Martin finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 23.32. That beat his own old mark of 23.55, which he had set on September 10.

Brady Lewis finished in the top ten in two events Saturday. He was ninth in the 100-yard butterfly and ninth in the 100-yard backstroke.

On Friday, Lewis finished third and set a new personal best mark in the 200-yard individual medley. He was also seventh in the 100-yard freestyle.

Seth Lock was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle Friday with a personal best score. He also finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle.

On Saturday, Lock finished 13th in the 100-yard butterfly and 19th in the 50-yard freestyle.
