Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant speaks out on teammate James Harden's apparent struggles as the former MVP adjusts to the new NBA rule on fouls. The 2021-2022 season has given birth to an all-new rule on offensive players drawing fouls and clearly, it's been tough for Harden as he continues to have a rough start for the Nets this season.

But, according to KD, he isn't bothered by all of this one bit. After a season-low of just one free-throw attempt against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, Durant is standing by his long-time teammate and said that this new rule doesn't really change anything when it comes to Harden's game.

“I don't think rule changes are affecting anyone's game, to be honest,” Durant said after the 111-95 loss (via Matt Brooks of Nets Daily).

Although on paper, Harden's numbers aren't so bad, we all know what the three-time scoring champ is capable of and averaging just 18.3 points per game so far is a clear indication that he's still trying to get a feel of the game. Just looking at the box score and seeing his contributions, one could say that he's doing fine. In three games, Harden has averaged close to 20 points per game alongside eight assists and 7.7 boards.

But, what's shocking is his free throw numbers which have been at an all-time low as of late.

Coming into the season, Harden was averaging almost nine free throw attempts per game in his entire career. He's made a living from the charity stripe and has been one of the smartest offensive players in the league for years. Harden just shot four free throws in each of the Nets' first two games and his single-free-throw game on Sunday definitely speaks volumes.
