The NY Giants’ offense was sputtering along against the Panthers, when Daniel Jones made an acrobatic catch on a trick play

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The NY Giants, and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett reached deep into the bag of tricks to ignite its stagnant offense, Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

With the NY Giants nursing a 5-3 lead with just under 4:55 remaining in the third quarter at Metlife Stadium, Garrett dialed up a hand off to Devontae Booker, who flipped the ball to wide receiver Dante Pettis on a reverse, before Pettis threw a pass near the sideline that Jones hauled in for 16 yards.

Jones’ diving, fingertip reception was one of the NY Giants’ more exciting offensive plays of the season.

Later on the drive, Jones hit Pettis for a five-yard touchdown that extended the NY Giants’ lead.

Through nearly three quarters, the NY Giants managed only 203 yards of total offense, with Jones leading the team in rushing, with 27 yards.
