The first half of the New York Jets game against the New England Patriots is in the books, and the Jets trail the Patriots 31 - 7.

The Jets opened the game on defense, and were quickly manhandled. The Patriots moved right down the field with little resistance from the Jets. The drive ended in a wide receiver option pass for a touchdown and a quick Patriots 7 - 0 lead.

The Jets first possession was the usual disaster. Three and out with a sack on 3rd down and the Jets punted.

The Patriots then moved right down the field again for another touchdown and a 14 - 0 lead. So much for the Jets fixing things on the bye.

After a Jets drive bogged down in Patriots territory and the Jets missed a 48 yard field goal attempt, the 1st quarter mercifully ended with the Jets trailing by 14.

Things went from bad to worse in the 2nd quarter. Zach Wilson injured his knee on a long pass that drew a pass interference call. The Jets punched it in on a Mike White to Corey Davis touchdown pass for a 14 - 7 deficit. From there it was all Patriots. The Patriots scored on every possession in the first half. The Jets offense continued to struggle with Mike White at the helm. The Jets defense provided little resistance. The result was an ugly first half and an all but insurmountable 31 - 7 Patriots lead.

We go into the second half with the Jets trailing by 24 points. The Jets are in deep trouble here. A victory does not appear to be in the cards.

Endure the second half everyone.
